The association was founded in 2002, based on the initiatives of immigrant women. The main objective is to promote the integration of immigrant women into Finnish society. The integration of entire families is made easier through the support of these women. Life in a new and foreign country is not always easy, especially when women represent different cultures and must face Finnish culture and traditions in their daily lives. The Daisy Ladies association strives towards solving these problems that may occur. In addition to this, important goals for the association are to activate and motivate immigrant women, as well as introducing new cultures to the main population.

DaisyLadies ry. objectives:

• to promote co-operation and understanding between different cultures

• to support the cultural identities of different groups

• to appreciate and see the strength in differences

• to present the initiatives and opinions of immigrant women

• to provide a support net in which socialising is encouraged regardless of ethnical background

• to establish co-operative links with different authorities within Finnish society

• to emphasise equality and acceptance within the community

• to create a common achievement by bringing together different individual resources

• to support immigrant women in matters regarding employment, education and resolving everyday problems

The name DaisyLadies originates from a vital and persistent flower that manages to survive in difficult conditions, provided that it is sufficiently watered and cared for.
